Status of Core French Teachers and Their Programs
This one year project allowed for a focus on the needs of language teachers and their programs. The activities were adapted from a Think Tank exercise conducted at the ECML, in Graz, Austria in 2003. Key questions about language teachers included: What is their status as professionals within the school community? What are their identified needs to promote their programs and enhance practices? What concerns are reported related to teacher shortage, or mobility away from language programs? |
The CASLT facilitated networking and workshop sessions, conducted telephone focus groups, and developed questionnaires; the data was collated to provide direction for future CASLT initiatives as well as to bring attention to the challenge faced by teachers of implementing the federal government's goal of doubling the number of bilingual high school graduates by 2013.
