Andrea Haddad has taught Core French from elementary through secondary for 29 years and performed traditional French music for children and adults, often working through Mariposa In The Schools. She created a program of activities called Rigodon to aid teachers in bringing traditions and culture of French North America into the classroom. Andrea conducts workshops for teachers in several school boards and language conferences regarding culture in the French classroom.

Title of Workshop/Presentation: Rigodon voyageons, fêtons, chantons, dansons!

Language of Delivery: French or English

Target Audience: Junior, intermediate Core and Immersion. Also welcome secondary.

Session Description:
Participants will be involved first in “easy to teach and learn” responsorial songs, introduced to the francophonie of North America, experience the activities of a major French “fête” within the classroom, taught to play the spoons and invited to participate in traditional dances. The workshop is delivered in part as a lecture with overheads and also with lots of participation in songs, music, dance and activities.

The session can be divided into shorter workshops on francophonie, music, fêtes or dance.

Preferred Length of Time: 2.5 hours

Other Considerations: An overhead projector and screen, a CD player, some space for dancing, and sometimes a microwave are required.
